Automobile2000 Lexus ES300 Platinum Series
millennium silver with black interior - delivered May 31, 2000.

Trade-in was a 1986 Nissan Maxima with 81,761 miles (131,582 kilometers) on it, very low mileage for a 14 year old car. The Maxima was delivered on January 16, 1986 and was dark blue, with a light blue interior.

Before the Maxima, I owned a 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport 4-speed convertible. This car was delivered on June 9, 1965 and was the only car I had for over 20 years. The GS was flame red, with a black interior and white convertible top. I loved this car; it was nice looking, sporty with the four speed manual and very, very fast (325 horsepower). Only 598 GS convertibles with the 4-speed manual transmission were made during 1965. I had to special order the car and wait 7 weeks for delivery.

I do keep my cars a long time. I am in my sixties, have owned a car since I was 18, and have only purchased 3 cars in my life.
Hobbies
  • Movies - I go to the movies 3 or more times a week.
  • Computers.
  • Photography and video.
  • Travel - My favorite vacation spots are:
    • Montreal, Quebec, Canada
    • Quebec (City), Quebec, Canada
    • Lake George, New York
    • New York (City), New York
    • Eastover Resort in Lenox Massachusetts.
    During the 1970's:
    • Visited Europe 8 times.
    • Visited the west coast of the United States twice (1 trip included Alaska).
    • Took 3 cruises (one of which was a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Elizabeth II).
    • Went to Montreal 6 times for the Montreal Canadians/Boston Bruins hockey games.
    • Visited Miami, Tampa, Dallas, and New York for New England Patriots away games.
  • Football - former season ticket holder for the New England Patriots (13 years). Still an avid football fan.
  • Walking - I love to walk. When I was working, I did not use my automobile on the weekends. Now that I am retired, I use my car once or twice per month. I take the T (local transit system) and/or walk . Castle Island at the tip of South Boston, the Esplanade along the Charles River (Boston), the Copley Square area (Boston), the Coolidge Corner area (Brookline) and Memorial Drive in the Harvard Square area (Cambridge) are my favorite walking locations.
The 70's were definitely my golden travel years.

Why is there a picture of Deer Island looking from Castle Island on this page? I worked as a Program Manager at the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, Boston, MA until I retired, and Castle Island is one of my favorite places in the summer.

Castle Island is at the tip of South Boston and is one of the nicest places in the City of Boston. During the summer, weather permitting, I would go to Castle Island almost every weekday after work. Castle Island is a great way to spend an afternoon after work. Castle Island is on Boston Harbor and Logan Airport is very close, just across the harbor. There are many activities to watch, either in the harbor or at Logan Airport. Usually, I meet some people I know and have a nice conversation while taking a leisurely walk around "The Island". My brother and I donated a tree and park bench to Castle Island in memory of our deceased parents, Robert (1985) and Mary (1995).
