Weight Loss Progress
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In 1999, I lost 70 pounds. By November 29, 2009 I had gained back the 70 pounds I lost in 1999 along with a 55 pound bonus. Most of my major weight losses have been in years ending in 9. I hope to repeat this history of successful weight losses during 2009 / 2010. I am determined to loose 10+ pounds by the end of 2009, and an additional 140 pounds or so by the end of 2011.

I have lost 37 pounds since November 29, 2009. Although happy with the weight loss, the rate of loss has slowed significantly. I lost app. 20 pounds in December, 10 pounds in January, and only 5 pounds in February. It appears that eliminating desserts, in between meal snacks, candy / popcorn at movies, and limiting my evening snack to an apple have given me all the weight loss those changes alone can give, and I am plateauing unless I initiate additional changes.

I now have to initiate additional eating behavior changes to ensure I do not plateau, and continue a safe, steady weight loss until I reach my goal of loosing a total of 150 pounds or so by the end of 2011. The initial changes were relatively easy to implement, the additional changes I anticipate will be more difficult.

I have lost another 3 pounds for a total of 35 pounds lost between November 29, 2009, and February 15, 2010. I have been faithful to my no desserts, no in-between meal snacks, no candy / popcorn at movies, and an evening snack limited to an apple eating behavior changes. I am probably close to plateauing soon, and will have to add more eating changes to continue my weight loss. I am determined to do what I have to do for a continued, safe weight loss until I achieve my goal of a 140+ pound weight loss by the end of 2011.

On February 1, 1999, I started a major weight loss which resulted in 70 pounds being shed by mid-August when I went on vacation. As you know from prior posts, I allowed myself to not only gain back that 70 pounds, but also a 55 pound bonus. The result was I weighed 125 pounds more on November 29, 2009 than in August, 1999 (I am embarrassed).

Today, I am disappointed that I weigh 23 pounds more than when I started the major weight loss on February 1, 1999. However, I am pleased at the same time that I have lost 32 pounds in a little over 2 months.

I am looking forward to comparing my weight loss during 2010 with the same date in 1999. I will be thrilled on the day my weight in 2010 is less than on the same date in 1999, and will be ecstatic on the day in 2010 when I weigh less than my lowest weight in 1999. I know those two dates are a long way off, but I am optimistic that I will succeed with my current weight loss, and reach those two important milestones during 2010.
