Weight Loss Progress

In 1999, I lost 70 pounds. By November 29, 2009 I had gained back the 70 pounds I lost in 1999 along with a 55 pound bonus. Most of my major weight losses have been in years ending in 9. I hope to repeat this history of successful weight losses during 2009 / 2010. I am determined to loose 10+ pounds by the end of 2009, and an additional 140 pounds or so by the end of 2011.

9 months from today is my 60th birthday. I have lost about 15 pounds since October 1, 2005, but that is certainly not anywhere near the amount I should have, and wanted to loose. I am convinced that if I have not lost significant weight by my 60th birthday, I will never loose it. It is imperative that I loose at least another 85 pounds (total of 100 when 15 I already lost is included) by my 60th birthday. 85 pounds in the next 9 months is certainly a realistic goal.

Although I did not totally adhere to my new weight loss eating behaviors this past week, I did follow them enough to loose 4 pounds in the last week. I am happy about the loss, and hopefully the loss will be an incentive to follow the new eating behaviors more closely to ensure continued weight loss.

I am using the description "new weight loss eating behaviors" rather than "diet" because diet sound temporary. I want the new weight loss eating behaviors to be permanent to ensure I loose the desired weight, and then maintain my new weight as opposed to gaining it all back like I have done previously.

Well, today starts my third year of retirement. I am app. 6 pounds heavier than I was when I started my first year of retirement, July 1, 2004. A gain of 6 pounds isn't bad for my first two years of retirement in which I thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, and this is a big however, I wanted to loose 100 pounds when I retired. I was originally going to start a major weight loss on June 16, the anniversary of my last work day. I did loose 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks, but I really did not adhere to weight loss eating behaviors. I decided I would wait until I finished two full years of retirement before starting a major eating behavior modification. My official retirement date was close of business June 30, 2004. My last workday was June 16, 2004; I had time I had to use before retiring.

Starting today, July, 1, 2006, I will start adhering to the eating behavior modifications that worked so well for me in 1999. My goal is to loose 100 pounds by July 1, 2007.
