Headset OK, problem when system closes apps, installed IM+
The Bluetooth headset seems to be working ok now. I will keep testing it. Hopfully, the problem described in the prior post was a one-time problem.
I suspect there may be a problem when the Treo 700w tries to close HanDBase 3.5 when the 5 MB threshold for closing applications is reached. The Treo 700w has froze several times when it was closing applications when the 5 MB threshold was reached. In all cases, HanDBase 3.5 was one of the open applications. The Treo 700w
has never froze while forcing applications to close when HanDBase 3.5 had already been manually closed by me. I will continue testing to ensure that HanDBase is the application causing the potential freeze problem during forced applications closing.
Installed IM+ on the Treo 700w to allow use of all major chat programs, not just the included MSN Messenger. IM+ seems to be working well on the Treo 700w, and is an excellent application for those that wish to use multiple chat clients on a Windows Mobile device.
Potential problems using Bluetooth headset with low memory after update
Before the update, the Jabra BT200 headset worked fine with the Treo 700w even when memory was below 3 MB. Since the update, the Bluetooth headset has experienced problems connecting with the Treo 700w when memory is between 5 and 6 MB. When memory is below 6 MB, the calls are routed to the Treo 700w speaker rather than being routed via Bluetooth headset. I have to reset the device to free up memory. After the reset, the bluetooth headset works fine.
I will check further to ensure the experienced problems were not just a one time problem, or a third party application is causing the problem. Hopefully, this problem is not another unexpected result of the increase in the memory threshold for closing applications from 2 MB to 5 MB. I will update this post after further testing.
