I just finished 6 months since I left work and I have really been enjoying myself. I go out everyday, go to numerous movies, eat in nice restaurants, and travel frequently. I went to Quebec City, Montreal, and Lake George for a total of 34 days during the summer and went to Cape Cod for a couple days as well. I am posting this from New York City where I am spending 9 days over the Christmas holidays.
I have also purchased a lot of electronic devices as well as a new Apple iMac G5 20 inch computer. I am definitely a classic example of "the only difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys".
The great time has been costly and I am spending like I got a raise in pay rather than a reduction with the retirement. That is alright, I gave myself 6 months to celebrate my retirement.
I can live comfortably on my retirement, I just have to reel in my spending to match my income. I will still enjoy myself, I just can't buy every new electronic device that gets introduced. I'll still go to movies regularly and eat out most of the time.
Although reeling in my spending is important, my most important goal for 2005 is to loose 120+ pounds.
Well, the time since retirement has flown by and it has been a blast; however, I do have to adjust my spending to match my income. It will be strange at first, but I can enjoy a comfortable life on my retirement income.
