Weight Loss Progress
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In 1999, I lost 70 pounds. By January 1, 2009 I had gained back the 70 pounds I lost in 1999 along with a 32 pound bonus. Most of my major weight losses have been in years ending in 9. I hope to repeat this history of successful weight losses during 2009. I am determined to loose 102+ pounds by the end of 2009.

Needless to say, I have not been too focused on loosing weight while on vacation, but I am becoming more determined each day that I will focus on loosing 120 pounds as soon as I return from vacation. I did have one psychological victory. In December of 1999, I visited Montreal and gained 16 pounds during that trip. The 16 pound gain was the start of my gaining back the 70 pounds I lost in 1999 along with a 15 to 20 pound bonus.

Montreal was very cold that December and I spent most of the time indoors (Underground City is great in the winter). Each night on the way back to the hotel in the cold, I would stop in the Second Cup (nice coffee house chain) for a hot chocolate with whipped cream and, when asked if I would like a piece of cake or other dessert with it, I would invariably say "yes". I am sure my nightly hot chocolate / cake snacks were not the only reason for the start of my weight gain, but they certainly played a big part in it.

Tonight after attending a movie at the AMC Forum, I walked along St. Catherine St. and stopped in the same Second Cup that I had my nightly snacks in 1999. When asked if I wanted a piece of cake with my tea, I politely said "no thank you". I felt pretty good about saying "no" to the dessert. I felt like I had a small victory in my constant fight with my weight and thought it was appropriate that my only recent weight related victory happened in the same place where I started my weight gain.

Well, I enjoyed myself in Provincetown. Needless to say, loosing weight was not one of my priorities, and it will not be a priority on my trip to Quebec City, Montreal, and Lake George. My main goal for the duration of the August trip will be not to gain any additional weight. Since I will not be "dieting" on vacation, the posts to this blog will be minimal until I return after Labor Day.

However.........
When I return home after Labor Day, my top priority will be loosing 120 pounds by December 31, 2005. I anticipate posting daily to this blog indicating my successes / failures (hopefully many more successes) toward my goal.
